08 Feb New Year, New Opportunities for Free Speech

It has been an eventful few years for Free Speech across the globe, and our developments at American INSIGHT are no exception. With the growth of our new online learning experience “Make History Every Day!,” and the 2022 Free Speech Film Festival just beginning, we continue to champion new voices and perspectives.

Now through April 30th, filmmakers from around the world can submit their films, ranging in length from 6-60 minutes to our 2022 Festival. Following extensive review from our panels of judges, the Free Speech Film Festival culminates with an online, multimedia Award Ceremony where we showcase our six Official Selection finalists, the full Free Speech Award-Winning Film and an in-depth interview with the winning Director. This year’s Award Ceremony will take place on October 16^th – you won’t want to miss out!

For the past decade, American INSIGHT’s Free Speech Film Festival has showcased stories from international filmmakers, selecting one to receive our Free Speech Award and $1,000 cash. In addition to the prize, Free Speech Film Festival Official Selection finalists and winners receive promotion across American INSIGHT’s daily Newsfeed and social media accounts, as well as the Free Speech Spotlight Blog.

To continue sharing the stories and messages of our filmmakers after the festival ends, our Official Selection finalists and winners will be featured in the curriculum of our upcoming course, “Make History Every Day!” where students will gain the opportunity to analyze and discuss each film’s impact on their own lives.

With the Free Speech Film Festival’s roots in the historic city of Philadelphia, we embrace the ideals of liberty, human rights and Rule of Law that have persisted since the decades before the American Revolution. We look forward to another year of the festival with films that discuss, exemplify and fight for the same ideals.
